Panic, Social Anxiety, Generalized Anxiety, Stress, Truama
Anxiety relates to fears of unknowns or what could happen. It typically has two components. The first is cognitive – thoughts, worries, fears and doubts. The other is physical – sensations like sweating, shallow breathing, heart racing, tightness, and gut wrenching, among others that are produced by our “fight or flight nervous system” (the sympathetic nervous system).
Suffering from anxiety can have a dramatic impact on health, work, outlook, and relationships. For example, avoidance or accommodation of anxiety can result in missed opportunities, lost experiences and dependency.
At Via Clinic, we conduct a comprehensive evaluation in order to establish a diagnosis. Treatment planning is provided, such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills for anxiety.
We may discuss and recommend pharmacologic treatment. This can include preventative daily medication, as well as abortive, or “as needed,” relief.
